Strengthening Women’s Property Rights in Rural Communities

Between 2023 and 2024, GTD Impact Foundation, in partnership with Wakami Foundation, visited 17 groups of women entrepreneurs across different regions of Guatemala to deliver practical workshops on Women’s Property Rights.

These sessions provided accessible legal tools for women to better understand the importance of owning property, land, and businesses under their own names, thereby strengthening their economic independence and family security.

In total, around 194 women participated in the workshops, representing communities from Chimaltenango, Sacatepéquez, Sololá, Jalapa, and Escuintla, among others.

Each session was carried out alongside local leaders and Wakami mentors, adapting the content to the cultural and linguistic context of each group.

More than workshops, these gatherings became spaces for dialogue, learning, and connection, where women shared their stories and reflected on what it truly means to be owners of their projects and their future.

This joint effort reaffirms the commitment of GTD Impact Foundation and Wakami Foundation to promoting legal and economic empowerment for women in rural Guatemala.

Because when a woman understands and exercises her property rights, her entire community thrives.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Wakami Foundation for inviting us to be part of these workshops and for their continued dedication to empowering women across Guatemala.

Together, we keep building pathways toward equity, opportunity, and lasting change. Let's build the bridge!
